12/11/2019 Senior Staff Accountant The Organization: The Sleep Wellness Institute (TSWI) is Wisconsin’s only independent sleep disorders center fully accredited for adults and children by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. As Wisconsin’s preeminent center for the diagnosis and treatment of all sleep disorders for both adults and children, we provide more testing and treatment options, such as in-lab or in-home testing, and treat all sleep disorders, with a special expertise in diagnosis and treating obstructive sleep apnea.
At The Sleep Wellness Institute, you work with Board Certified Sleep Doctors, Nurse Practitioners, and Sleep Technicians who are Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (RPSGT) and/or Registered Sleep Technologists. The Sleep Wellness Institute holds the gold standard for its sleep technologists.
The Position: General Summary: The Senior Staff Accountant will be responsible for directing the financial activities of the organization, which involves financial reporting and analyses of operations for the guidance of management decisions. The Staff Accountant will serve as an active and strategic member of the company’s management team, and also serve as the IT vendor liaison.
Financial Reporting: Oversees and performs month-end close processes, including journal entry posting, reconciling and balancing charges, cash, and other asset and liability accounts. Prepares monthly financial reports, payer rate analyses, accounts receivable and accounts payable aging, and other statistical reports. Appraises and summarizes company’s financial position utilizing data generated. Directs year-end financial and tax audit activities, prepares related work papers and reports, and completes timely reporting as required by Federal and State regulatory agencies.
Financial Operations: Establishes and ensures compliance with policies and procedures regarding all accounting related functions, including accounts payables, accounts receivables, general ledger, and fixed assets. Maintains proper records and ensures financial controls are in place for the receipt and recording of funds. Reviews accounts for collectability and accounts submitted to outside collection agencies. Verifies quarterly and annual payroll reports are filed timely, serves as backup for payroll processing. Ensures proper insurance coverage for the company, including liability, property, and worker’s compensation; manages annual business insurance policy renewals.
Financial Planning: Collaborates in strategic and financial planning surrounding business growth; advises leadership on financial strategies, objectives, and policies. Monitors cash daily and prepares cash flow projections to effectively manage cash and line of credit borrowings. Prepares annual budget with supporting documentation, justification, and financial forecasting.
Administrative: Assures the finance department is operating efficiently and cost effectively. Develops and enforces policies and procedures that protect the company from intentional or unintentional misuse of funds. Establishes and maintains relations with banks and other financial institutions. Manages accounting staff, including development of team and individual goals, completion of timely performance appraisals, coaching for performance and development, and providing continuing education. Works with leadership, revenue cycle and other department managers to monitor KPI’s, measure results against standards, design and implement procedures, and communicate regularly to ensure optimal control and/or tactical change.
Other Duties: Oversees daily cash deposit and accounts payable processes, acting as backup when needed. Processes inventory invoices and works with warehouse and vendors to resolve discrepancies. Manages business relationship with the company’s outsourced IT vendor. Processes financial hardship (Charity Care) applications for patients, following established guidelines. Documents all insurance and/or patient related phone calls, messages and faxes in the appropriate patient's file. Performs other duties/special projects as assigned.
Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university. Two to four years related experience and/or training. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. Ability to apply principles of logic or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.,) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
Preferred Qualifications: CPA professional designation and credentialing experience preferred. Knowledge and experience in organizational effectiveness and operations management, including business and management principles and practices. Knowledge of project management principles and practices and strong aptitude to work across all departments in the organization. Information technology skills, specifically Excel.

Stoughton Hospital has an excellent employment opportunity for a full-time Accounts Payable and Payroll Specialist. This position is responsible for performing accounts payable, payroll, and general accounting duties. Handles a wide variety of advanced clerical accounting work.
Prefer three years of experience in data processing, payroll and accounts payable. Payroll/accounting experience in a health care setting and training in computer applications is preferred. Job Description: The Director is responsible for directing the day-to-day activities of the Finance department. They also have responsibility for directing the hospital’s revenue cycle through direct report Managers who oversee the day-to-day activities of the Registration, Centralized Scheduling, Communications, and Business Services departments. The Director of Financial Services is responsible for hiring of employees for their areas, performance evaluations and disciplinary action including dismissal when appropriate. They are responsible for establishing expectations for all of their staff and defining the expected outcomes, determining the support, skill set and competencies needed for the roles. They are responsible for resource acquisition thereby assuring their staff has the materials and equipment to be successful in their jobs. They are responsible for staff development and identifying the strengths of their staff and supporting them in being successful in their jobs. They are responsible for coaching, mentoring staff and recognizing the excellence of their staff. The Director is intrinsically driven, always looking for ways to expand their own knowledge base and is able to see the greater purpose for which their efforts are a part. They must be able to demonstrate critical thinking skills in all aspects of their role including utilizing data to weigh alternatives and searching for solutions outside of the box.
A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration with an emphasis in accounting, and five plus years of progressively more responsible related work experience are required.
Three years prior Supervisory/Managerial experience in Financial Services preferred.
Revenue cycle management experience preferred.
Strong computer skills and experience with the Epic Information System preferred.
Graduate studies in accounting and/or CPA certification and active membership in the Healthcare Financial Management Association are preferred.
